Planner Premium Manual Setup

This guide covers the manual configuration steps for setting up write permissions to Microsoft Planner Premium. Use this if the automatic setup doesn't work for your environment.

Note: You should be a Microsoft 365 admin to complete the steps below.


1. Ensure You're an Admin in Power Platform

  1. Go to the Power Platform admin center (https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com)

  2. Click Manage

  3. Select your environment

  4. Click Membership in the top right

  5. If you're not listed as an admin, add yourself as a System Administrator


2. Create a New Security Role

  1. Go to Settings → Users + permissions → Security roles

  2. Click New role

  3. Name it something descriptive (e.g., MS Planner Jira Sync)


3. Configure Permissions for Operation Set Tables

  1. Make sure the selector says Show all tables

  2. Use the search in the top right to find msdyn_operationset

  3. For both tables below, set all permissions (Create, Read, Write, Delete, Append, Append To, Assign, Share) to Business Unit:

    • Operation Set (msdyn_operationset)

    • OperationSet Detail (msdyn_operationsetdetail)


4. Add Yourself to the Security Role

  1. Go back to your environment

  2. Click Settings → Users + permissions → Users

  3. Find your user in the list

  4. Click the three vertical dots next to your user

  5. Select Manage security roles

  6. Find your new MS Planner Jira Sync security role in the list

  7. Select it

  8. Click Save


✅ Once completed, return to the app and click Recheck Permissions to verify your setup.
